Fighting Back Against Runtime Error 424

Runtime error 424 is one of those nagging computer errors known to pop up on Windows XP and Vista computers from time to time. Issues are known instantly as you will be presented with a message that reads: "Runtime error 424: Object required." Similar to other errors, this one typically prevents your applications from loading properly and impacts the overall performance of a computer if not addressed in a timely fashion. Assuming that you want your PC running at its best, resolving this run time error is something you need to perform promptly.

Runtime Error 424

Before troubleshooting runtime 424, it is important to have an understanding of what generates this type of error. The error message you get on the screen is basically letting you know that an application you are trying to use is experiencing problems. Runtime error 424 is one that often shows up when trying to launch the Microsoft Office Chart Wizard or when using Internet Explorer 6.0. The longer you ignore the problem, the less functionality you will receive from the software.

Addressing Runtime Error 424

There are essentially two ways to troubleshoot this error. You can start by uninstalling Internet Explorer 6.0. Since this software has been replaced by version 7.0, or the newly released 8.0, you may want to consider making an upgrade or switching to another web browser such as Mozilla FireFox or Opera.

Additionally, you can make a mental note to not use the Office wizard when inserting your office charts. While the wizard definitely helps, you are less likely to encounter run time errors without it.

There are also rare occurrences when runtime error 424 pops up while you are working in Microsoft Outlook 2000. When this happens, you can solve the issue by selecting the HTML format and edit the error message. To do this, simply click on "tools" from the main menu of the Outlook mail client and select "options". From there, navigate to and click on the "mail format" tab. In the "Send in this message format" list, select "HTML" and save the changes.

Cleaning up Run time Errors the Easy Way

The easiest and most effective way to eliminate runtime error 424, and others like it, is to sweep out your system registry. Over time, the Windows registry will become littered with abandoned keys and corrupted files. By installing a good registry cleaner, you can find out what is causing the problem and instantly remove those troublesome items. Not only will such a solution clear out the run time errors, but it will also get your computer running at optimal performance.

Conclusion

For Windows users, run time errors have become a common way of life. This is why you should keep yourself educated on probable issues so they can be immediately addressed. When something minor does come up, you will know how to handle it and quickly get back to business. You might not be a computer technician, but run time errors are simple problems almost anyone can handle.

HDD Recovery Tools

This is a situation that every tech support person has faced or will face at least once: a failed hard drive. In this particular case, a user was getting errors like "disk 0 error" and "invalid drive specification. "

Here were the other facts in the case:

• The data wasn't backed up.
• The problem came out of nowhere.
• The user had accessed Setup and tried to manually enter the settings for the drive type when"Auto" didn't work.
• There was no start up disk made by this machine.

Repair a drive like that one-even if only long enough to copy its data before you throw the drive in the garbage-is a tough challenge. Compared to buy a new drive, the price of Data Recovery nowadays is still a very expensive option.

While the Freeze it, Hit it, and Drop it options are still experimented with by some, the current size and sensitivity of the newer larger hard drives makes these options extremely risky and definitely NOT recommended for hard drives with a capacity that's greater than 60GB. And even then some of the operation suggested here should be approached with caution. Getting it wrong by trying to save some money will only end up costing you more if you then decide to pass on your hard drive to a data recovery company. . .

There are, broadly speaking three classes of data recovery, Logical, Electronic, and Physical.

• Logical Where the FAT, NTFS or other file structure has been corrupted either by accident or on purpose or individual filed or folders have gone missing. The hard drive has not suffered damage to the components of the hard drive itself.
• Electronic Component failure on the PCB (the circuit board on the bottom of the hard drive) in the motor or internally.
• Physical Internal damage to the hard drive, damaged platters, head crashes, damage to the motor, or head rack signal amplifier. You need a clean room and plenty of experience to have any chance of a successful outcome here.

Logical recoveries are becoming an affordable option for those people who are familiar with the risks involved with data recovery. Software tools that are now available for this task vary greatly in their capability, complexity and cost. Careful research should be done before any work is done on the damaged hard drive. If you are able, get another hard drive and experiment. Format it, Fdisk it, delete files and partitions and learn how the data recovery software operates under these various conditions. Before to start work on your own or your clients hard drive back it up, the backup mantra is one that you all should be familiar with by now! There are tools available to backup (or image) a hard drive that has been fdisked!! Use them. Ghost software is not suitable for this task, then perform your recovery attempts on the image not the original.

For the Electronic damaged, you must need some extra hdd repair tools to exchange the PCB or Head or other components, as far as we know, nowadays one tool called HD HPE Pro produced by SalvationDATA can do the excellent job of exchanging drive's components. Many data recovery companies now using this tool, also nowadays there are many faked tools in the market which price is lower than SalvationDATA, but with bad quality.

As for the Physical problems of the drives, if the situation happened in several years ago, then even the best professional data recovery company will say that they have no choice.

But nowadays, the HDD recovery tools grows at a quick rapid speed, there are many tools can do this job now, among them the most famous tools are produced by ACE and SalvationDATA, but it is said that the Data Compass of SalvationDATA is much powerful, which can also support the Raid data recovery, which ACE doesn't has.

So nowadays whether your HDD has logical or electronic or physical damaged, you are no need to worry about your data, because there is always solutions here to find your data back.

Word 2007 Error - .docx Cannot Be Opened Because There Are Problems With the Content

Office Open XML is the new format that has been introduced in Microsoft Office 2007. Based on XML and ZIP archive technologies, a file saved in Microsoft Office Word 2007 is divided into document parts. Each of these parts defines a part of the overall file contents. Thus it becomes easy for you to create and modify a Word 2007 document, either manually or programmatically.

Such files are saved with .docx extension. But they can catch odds of corruption, if subjected to unexpected shutdown, virus attack, application faults and other similar causes. However, if your recent file backup is updated and healthy, you can successfully restore the file. But backup issues necessitate the use Word Recovery applications.

While trying to open a Word 2007 document, you might receive the below error message:

Restore Deleted Files From the Recycle Bin Before It's Too Late

Have you accidentally emptied your recycle bin after cleaning up your hard disk to free up disk space? Don't worry, even if you have lost some of your important files in this process there is a solution. You can still get them back, but before you proceed with the files recovery, it is important for you to understand how deletion works!!

When a file is deleted, the contents of the file are actually not erased. Rather the directory entry of the file is removed from the drive and is added to trash folder. The file is then renamed and the original path of the file is stored in a hidden index file. When the file is restored by the user, the index entry is read by the OS and the file is restored back.

The problem arises when the trash is also emptied by the user. In this situation, the files still exist on your system. They can be found on the lower levels of your hard drive but your system cannot internally locate them. But unfortunately they can be overwritten and lost forever anytime you add new data on your system. So the sooner you attempt a data recovery, the better your chances are.

Restore Deleted Files From Recycle Bin

The only option left with you after you empty your recycle bin is to depend on the third party data recovery software. Once a file is deleted from the trash folder your OS cannot locate the information on it's own.

The third party data recovery tools are not only capable of recovering the lost data of recycle bin but they can also recover data from a freshly formatted disk partition. Other features include retrieving deleted emails and attachments. The software scans your computer, allow you to preview the lost files, and then gives you the option to recover them.

Did you accidentally delete files from the recycle bin? Need help restoring your recently emptied recycle bin? Well look no further. You can restore lost data with the best file recovery software on the net. Try it out completely risk free!

Flash Data Recovery Tools

Both NOR and NAND Flash memory were invented by Dr. Fujio Masuoka from Toshiba in 1984. The name 'Flash' was suggested because the erasure process of the memory contents reminds a flash of a camera, and it's name was coined to express how much faster it could be erased "in a flash".

Flash memory is a form of non-volatile memory that can be electrically erased and rewrite, which means that it does not need power to maintain the data stored in the chip. In addition, flash memory offers fast read accessing times and better shock resistance than hard disks. These characteristics give a good explaination the popularity of flash memory for applications such as storage on battery-powered devices. However, USB flash drives are a convenient way to transport data from one location to another. USB have several advantages over conventional data transportation methods including:

1. Compact in design
2. Light weight
3. Low cost to purchase
4. Ever increasing capacities (up to 8GB or more)

Whilst disadvantages include:

1. Higher cost per Gb
2. Slower than conventional hard disks
3. Higher risk of losing data

In general, solid state storage devices such as memory cards or USB flash drives offer greater reliability than their conventional hard disk counterparts as they contain no moving parts. Faults are nearly always related to either an onboard component malfunction or poor assembly. Frequently in order to recover the data, it's necessary to fault find by tracing the electronic signals in the devices themselves and replacing / repairing the faulty component, or modifying boards / components to create a workaround on the device.

It's important to remember that if the data contained on the faulty device is of value, and it is necessary to have it recovered by experienced technicians. Data on solid state devices can often be rendered unrecoverablely due to incorrect recovery procedures not being noted.

Typical USB memory stick / card / pen drive failure & data loss symptoms: The device will no longer be recognised by the computer when inserted; or the device will be recognised but appear empty or the device will be recognised incorrectly or show the wrong storage capacity

Luckily there are some professional Flash recovery tools like PC-3000 Flash, which handles all models of flash drives (SD, SM ,MMC, USBFlash, MemoryStick, CompactFlash etc.) But the new giant of data recovery tools provider SalvationDATA will release the Flash Doctor in July,2009. It is said that its functions are more powerful and covers a larger range of support list. Based on the HD Doctor and Data Compass which has helped quite a lot of data recovery technicians, we can give another chance to SalvationDATA to check the fact that new technology brings more convenience to people's lives.

Can I Recover Data From a Computer That Crashed?

Every day, computers are exposed to harmful programs that will ultimately slow the machine and crash the hard drive. Harmful programs can install by themselves without any detection from the computer user. Once the hidden installation is complete, the program is placed in the same folder with essential system operated files.

When a hard drive crashes, recovering data is impossible. Fortunately, there are many computer products that are available to transfer critical data files from the vulnerable hard drive to a safe haven external storage device.

Preventing a computer crash disaster is the only inexpensive way to save vital data. The majority of newly released computers contain insertion slots of the following devices: CompactFlash, Secure Digital, Memory Stick, and SmartMedia. Also, there are additional USB slots for flash drives and external hard drives. Many of these devices are being sold at electronic stores, and they are priced between five dollars to one-hundred and fifty dollars.

While many storage cards carry a lot of data capacity, they are lightweight, small, and easy to misplace. Therefore, computer users only carry a few storage devices with them at school or work. Sometimes, MP3 music players can be used as storage devices. For example, college students send their PowerPoint presentations about Digital Media in their iPod thirty gigabyte internal hard drive. USB flash drives and external hard drives can be carried anywhere because they are heavy and big. Therefore, workers will be able to access business presentations on a USB drive or an external hard drive without giving a lame excuse to their boss.

It's possible for a system recovery, but data is immediately wiped out of the hard drive. There are some freeware and shareware programs that are available to recover essential files. However, the results are not positive. Ultimate Boot CD and PC Inspector File recovery are two examples of freeware programs. Not only does the process of recovery take a very long time, the majority of users are dissatisfied with the results. As a result, only some files can be recovered while others are lost forever.

Overall, it's important to backup files on a regular basis to prevent a computer from crashing. Furthermore, computers can only perform naturally with the correct system restore software which is available to create using Recovery DVD Creator on Windows XP. Therefore, installing freeware and shareware programs for system data recovery will only make the computer worse. As a result, computer users need to stick to the traditional method of system recovery.

Can I Recover Data From a Broken Memory Card?

Everyone has a digital camera or device now days, allowing them to record those wonderful moments. It seems it gets easier all the time to lose pictures, either by deleting the wrong files or by memory cards breaking. One frequently asked question in the technology field, "Can I retrieve data from a broken memory card"?, and " Do you think the pictures are gone permanently?" Well most of the time the answer to both is "possibly". When your memory card is broken, it stands less of a chance of recovery. The memory card has such delicate components, and the smallest thing could lead to the loss of saved data.

These are more or less your options. Based on how a memory card is actually broken, can determine whether or not an easy out will be available. So, what do you do now? You put your trust in a product that is supposed to store and keep your pictures and data safe. In return you are left empty handed. Whether your memory card was lost, destroyed, or damaged, to most it is important that you recover your data. A memory card that has been burnt, or has extreme water damage, may not have any partitions left to try and save. Either way you are left wondering where to turn. Some things you should try before tossing your card for good:

Some ways to recover lost files are - download recovery software, take it to a photography developing place, or perhaps to a Radio Shack dealer or similar specialty shop. Even sending the card in to a professional data recovery service is suggested.

We suggest you simply try to download a free data recovery program at home first. There's nothing to loose, except the high cost of paying someone to do it for you. Data recovery software is a non destructive and read only utility that enables you to recover lost images, music, video files, and other office documents from your memory card. Most times this can recover, and needs no further steps. This step may not apply to those severely damaged. In those cases, professional help may be the only option left.

Taking the memory card to a nearest photo developer may be an affordable option as well. You may simply walk in and ask if they can pull up anything. They may have a more advanced way of recovering your data.

Lastly, if none of the other options have worked, it is time to decide how valuable the files on your card are. It will cost quite a bit for a professional to recover them for you. In turn, they may not be able to recover them on account of it being totally destroyed.

There are many ways to recover, and to prevent later loss of files, but always make sure you back up your files often. For most of us, pictures are irreplaceable!

Microsoft Access Tables

When using Microsoft Access we need to store the data somewhere. In traditional PC based database systems the data would be stored in flat files. In MS Access however, any data entered will be stored in what are known as Microsoft Access tables. A table will have a series of columns known as fields or attributes. For example, in a contacts database system we would have fields for first name, surname, address, date of birth etc. Each field will have a data type which defines the type of data it can accept. For example if we are storing a price we do not want to use a text data type. We would use a numeric data type in this case. If we are storing a lot of text it is best to use a memo data type. A memo data type is ideal for storing long descriptions or even notes.

Probably the most important field of a Microsoft Access table will be the primary key field. This is used as the identifying field of the table. The best data type to use here is the auto number. The auto number will increment by one each time a new record is added to the table. Changing the auto number is not allowed. The identifying field can be and should be made into what is known as a primary key field. Microsoft Access makes this easy. When a field becomes a primary key, no duplicates will be allowed in that field and it only accepts unique values. In design view a small key symbol will be present next to the field to show that it is a primary key.

We may want to store a date of birth. In this case the best data type to use is Date/Time. When using this data type we can set something called an input mask to help us enter the date in the correct format. Microsoft Access 2007 introduces the attachment field. This is useful for storing related documents to the record. For example, we may wish to store Excel spreadsheets, images or even Word documents. The attachment field should be used with caution though as too many attachments can bloat your database. Sometimes it may be better to simply provide a link path to the documents.
Tables can be related together to form relationships. An invoice and customers table will have a relationship in that one customer can have many orders. This relationship is modeled by linking the primary key to what is known as the foreign key. There are other relationships available in Microsoft Access.

When screen forms are created they are normally based on tables. This means the data entered into a form will be saved into a table and the data displayed on the form will be loaded from a table.
Microsoft Access tables are probably the most important components of your database system and as such need to be designed correctly. If the design and relationships are correct from the outset it will save a lot of heartache later.

Partition Loss When FixMbr Command Damages Partition Table

Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP offer an excellent feature to repair and restore damaged MBR (Master Boot Record), which is known as FixMbr. This is a Windows Recovery Console command, which can rewrite whole code of the Master Boot Record. In a partition Windows hard drive, the MBR is a small piece of code, which is located at the first sector of hard drive and runs every time whenever your system starts the booting process. Corruption to this data structure makes your Windows computer unbootable and thus all of the critical data inaccessible.

In such situations, all of your hard drive partitions become inaccessible and you can not access your precious data. In some situations, while attempting to repair damaged MBR, the Windows Partition Table may get damaged accidentally and require Partition Recovery to be performed.

Partition Table in Microsoft Windows operating system defines the hard drive partitions. It stores whole partition information such as partition size, starting location and ending location.
Every partition in Partition Table records 16-byte.

Use of FixMbr command might make all of the hard drive partitions inaccessible and result into partition loss if any of the below given conditions are true:

The hard drive is infected by viruses.

Your system is experiencing some hardware or system metadata structure related issues.

To prevent data loss and partition loss, you are recommended to follow the underwritten steps prior to use the FixMbr command:

Always use a powerful and updated antivirus software, which is able to scan your hard drive and remove viruses and affected files.

Check all the hardware resources.

Backup all of your valuable data. You should check data backup for media integrity and status.
If all else fails, you need to go for third party Partition Recovery Software to get all of your lost partitions back. These software are powerful enough to methodically scan your whole hard drive and extract all of the lost partition partitions and data. Efficient scanning mechanisms are used by this software to achieve absolute Partition Recovery.

With interactive and simple graphical user interface, these software are completely easy to use and do not demand sound and prior technical skills to achieve absolute recovery. Partition Recovery Software use non destructive design and so they perform original recovery.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the most excellent solution to retrieve lost partitions. It recovers all FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file system partitions. This software is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 RC1, Vista, 2003, XP and 2000.

Guidelines For Recovering Data From Your Hard Disk.

As much as we would all like to think that it could never happen, a hard disk failure on your personal computer will very likely occur during your lifetime. This problem can happen to anyone, from the biggest corporation to the single user in their home. A data recovery is an essential part of your operating systems function.

Some of the reasons that you may experience a data loss are spyware, power outages, accidental deletion, or hard disk crashes. There are also a number of viruses that will cause you to lose your data on your computer. It is a good idea to learn some of the ways that you can help get your data back in the event of a situation like this.

The first thing that you should do is not use your computer until an expert repair person can look at it. If you continue to use your computer in some of these situations, you could experience even greater data loss.

Do not try to move any of the files on your computer. This could cause the problem to become worse. If you cause the problem to become worse, it is possible that you will not be able to retrieve your data. Get an expert on the problem so that you can get your data off of the disk.

Connecting to the internet is also not recommended when you are facing a loss of data. If you go online, you may end up updating some of the software on your computer. This might make your data loss permanent.

Free up some of the space on your disk. You can empty your recycle bin and the browser of stored files. Then get the help of a professional who will be able to recover your data. Check your data over completely when it has been recovered to ensure that it has not been corrupted.

Hard Drive Controller Failure and Data Recovery

You can not access your business critical data from your drive, if the controller or disk controller of your hard drive is damaged. It could result as serious data loss situations. To resolve these issues, you should opt for Data Recovery solutions.

The H.D controller is a circuit that allows CPU (Central Processing Unit) to communicate with the H.D . Early drive controllers were recognized by their data storage methods and the data encoding. Those controllers were generally implemented on separate controller card.

Modern drive controllers are implemented on the H.D itself. For instance, the SATA drives come with in-built SATA controllers. The most general types of disk interface available nowadays are SATA, SCSI, EIDE and IDE.

In general terms, H.D controller is an associated circuitry and chip which is responsible for controlling the H.D. The type of controller depends upon the interface of the drive. For instance, IDE interface needs an IDE controller. On Apple Macintosh computers, the hard drive controllers are built onto motherboard.
The data transfer speed of the drives is based on the PIO (Programmed Input/Output) modes. When a H.D controller or chip gets damaged, the data can not be read from or written to the drive and thus data loss takes place.
In such critical situations, you need to change the H.D controller. You should not attempt it on your own as a minor mistake during this process might make your data irretrievable.
It should be left for H.D Recovery experts. The data recovery software carry out component level corrective procedures to repair the damaged disks and deploy modern and safe techniques to efficiently salvage all lost data.
The recovery process should always be carried out in sterile and controlled lab environment of Clean Rooms as the environmental factors like dust particles, humidity, heat, pressure etc. can damage the sensitive hard drive internals. Selecting an experienced company with team of expert professionals is always required to ensure best recovery results. Such companies take care of both software and hardware caused system failures.
Stellar Information Systems Limited is the most trustworthy and leading provider of Hard Drive Recovery service. Stellar's recovery service is available to resolve data loss situations after physical or logical crash. We cover storage media s H.D (SATA, SCSI, EIDE & IDE), SSDs (Solid State Drives) and USB flash drives. The service is performed under state-of-the-art Class-100 Clean Rooms.

How Booting Problems Can Cause Partition Loss in Windows

Sometimes, when you start your Windows computer, you might receive certain error messages as following:

"Boot Disk failure"

Or

"Operating System Not Found"

This behavior of Windows takes place when the hard drive is detected by BIOS (Basic Input Output System) but operating system doesn't load. The system might get stuck on the second screen during the boot process and operating system may refuse to load. These circumstances could be really troublesome as there are very few troubleshooting options available to resolve them.

There could be several reasons behind Windows bootup problems. The most common ones are as follows:

  • Corrupted Boot Loader: If you are working on a dual boot system, there are strong chances of boot loader corruption. For instance, if you are using Windows XP and Linux using LILO (LInux LOader) as boot loader and LILO gets damaged, you could not boot your system using either operating system.
  • MBR Corruption: This problem could also occur due to corrupted MBR (Master Boot Record). It is the main program that is used for bootstrapping operating system, after BIOS executes the machine code instructions.
  • Boot Sector Virus: The most probable reason of this behavior of Windows could be a boot sector virus. You can confirm it by connecting your hard drive to another computer and then scanning it using good antivirus software.

In either of these situations, the only option you have to fix the problem is to install a fresh copy of damaged system tool either it is boot loader or MBR.

You can achieve this by recreating the partition structure, formatting the Windows partition and reinstalling the Windows operating system. It will fix all the disk related logical errors. But it also has a downside, recreating the partition structure erases the existing partition schema and thus all the underlying data goes missing. It puts you in immediate need of Partition Recovery.

Partition Recovery is the way out of scanning your affected hard drive and then retrieving your lost partitions and data from them. Partition Recovery is best possible through powerful Partition Recovery Software such as Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is advanced Partition Recovery Software to achieve efficient Windows Partition Recovery. It is capable of retrieving data in all logical data loss situations. The e-mail recovery, disk cloning, read- only conduct, influential scanning mechanisms and live update are some major features which make this software world class. This outstanding tool is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000.

Author is researching on hard drive partition related problem also on lost partition recovery and gives solution to recover your data in partition loss with partition recovery software.

Chkdsk Fails to Use FAT32 Backup Boot Sector

Boot sector is the very first sector of a partition that conveys the required boot information to the system. FAT32 maintains the backup copy of the boot sector, usually at sector 6. Chkdsk can use this backup boot sector if you allow it to run while FAT32 volume corruption. But sometimes, the process fails and Chkdsk doesn't make any repairs for corrupted volumes. Thus, to restore lost information, you require using your recent data backup that should be valid and updated enough to give required data. However, if you face any issues with your backup, use data recovery services and applications as the solution to recover data.
As a practical example, when you observe a FAT32 volume as corrupted or inaccessible, you try to run Chkdsk to repair it. Chkdsk reports file system as FAT32 or RAW and it doesn't make any repairs and quits unexpectedly. You receive the similar message:
"The type of the file system is FAT32.
Volume Serial Number is C408-2213"
Subsequently, when you run Chkdsk without using any command-line switches, it again fails to repair corruption with an additional error message that it cannot continue in read-only mode.
Cause
By design, Chkdsk doesn't use backup boot sector to repair the damaged volume, unless it gets an I/O error message while accessing the volume. It happens if primary sector is physically located in a bad sector. Since the primary boot sector is corrupted or has invalid information, Chkdsk doesn't try to use the backup B.S and fails to repair volume corruption.
Solution
To repair the damaged volume when Chkdsk is failing to do so, you need to follow any of these methods:
Run Dskprobe.exe tool that could copy the backup boot sector and replace it over the damaged primary boot sector.

If the above measure fails or backup boot sector appears to be corrupted, reformat the damaged volume and restore from last backup. But if backup is damaged, not updated, or absent, scan your drive using Data Recovery Software. Such applications make safe Data Recovery using powerful and advanced scanning algorithms. Also, they offer graphically rich interface together with quality recovery options.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is a secure tool to recover lost data from FAT32, VFAT, NTFS, and NTFS5 volumes/partitions. It is a read-only data recovery software with exceptional features like Disk Imaging, Drive Cloning, Drive Status, RAW File Recovery etc. It is compatible with Windows 7 (currently in RC1), Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000.

How a Hard Drive Works.

Hard Disk: A hard disk, also called a hard disk drive, is a storage device that contains one or more inflexible, circular patterns that magnetically store data, instructions, and information.
As with foppy disks, the data on hard disks is recorded on a series of tracks located on one or more platters. The tracks are divided into sectors when the disk is formatted. In view of above Figure show how a hard drive works.

The hard Drive platters spin at a high rate of speed, typically 5,400 to 7,200 revolutions per minute. When reading data from the disk, the read head senses the magnetic spots that are recorded on the disk along the various tracks and transfers that data to memory. When writing, the data is transferred from memory and is stored as magnetic spots on the tracks on the recording surface of one or more of the disk platters. When reading or writing, the read / write heads on a hard disk drive do not actually touch the surface of the disk.

The number of platters permanently mounted on the spindle of hard disk varies. On most drives, each surface of the platter can be used to store data. Thus, if a hard disk drive uses one platter, two surfaces are available for data. If the drive uses two platters, four sets of read / write heads read and record data from the four surfaces. Storage capacity of internally mounted fixed disks for personal computers range from 10 GB to more than 200 GB.
The system unit on most destop and notebook computers contains at least one hard disk. Although hard disks are available in removable cartridge form, most hard disks cannot be removed from the computer.

Why Waste TIME and MONEY on other Data Recovery Software?

I am happy and glad to discover that I can finally recover my files now whenever any mistake occurs when I am using my computer system saving files, working with documents or at times when I need to transfer or copy files from one system or device to another.
You too can have this assurance any minute from now.
Once upon a time, I used to be part of the minority who had always felt there was no remedy at all for mistakes made whenever I was processing data using my personal computer. Retrieving files deleted from the recycle bin was easy seeing all I needed to do was to open the recycle bin, click on the file deleted or recovered and simply click on restore and it was done.
You will be used to this procedure as well.
However, the recovery of my files or any deleted document after I have emptied the recycle bin posed a great challenge indeed. It was an impossible task.
I hardly see it let alone get to recover or restore it back. There was no manual, report or guide as regards recovery of my files when emptied from the recycle bin and this gave me a lot of worry and caused me sleepless nights.
In my dilemma and while almost at the point of despair from frustration over my missing files which was much needed, deleted documents that were required to complete some projects later on, etc I was opportune to come across a third party software that safely, securely and completely assisted in the recovery of my files.
To RECOVER/RESTORE ALL MY FILES without delay...
[video, document, photographs, music, audio, e-mail, excel doc, word doc, etc]
At first I was skeptical about trying the software for the recovery of my files but considering the fact that I did not have any ready solution to my problem, I was left with little or no choice. My curiosity got the better of me and in desperation I tried it out.
Getting to download the Recover My Files software to my system was easy and getting it installed, up and running was simple.
I work with rest of mind and do not mind at all whenever any mistake or error occurs, I simply deploy recover my files to the rescue. I can confidently say processing data on my computer system has never been this easy. With recover my files software recovery of my files when lost or deleted is a breeze.

External Hard Drive Data Recovery - Recovering Data From the

External Hard Drive

Is it harder to recover data that has been lost form an external hard drive than an internal one? According to the experts who continually work hard to recover data from each of these sources there is no difference. They are both quite complex but there are a few additional steps to consider when you are trying to recovery data from an external hard drive.

There are a few things you need to keep in mind when you are looking at recovering data on an external hard drive. It has to be attached to a system so you can monitor the recovery process. Most IT departments have an extra work space for this purpose. If not you can likely use any of the other desk top computers in the facility. This really isn't going to affect the quality of the data recovery process. It is simply a monitoring done for convenience.

The person who is responsible for completing the data recovery process for the external drive has to be able to monitor what is taking place. This way they can perform the right tasks each step of the way. There is simply no reason to complete the entire recovery process only to discover that something wasn't working right so it all has to be repeated. This can cost valuable time and increase the cost of the services.

The integrity of the data has to be tested after it is recovered. This can be done by opening several of the data files that have been saved to the external drive. You should take a close look at the operating system first. If everything is fine there move to the other large files you have on your computer system.

Once you are positive all of the data is in place and working correctly you will be able to return the external drive to its original location. For those who are well trained in the process, data recovery is a methodical process that can be done on both an external and internal hard drive. In most cases the entire process can be done without too much difficulty.

Free Recovery Software - How to Recover Deleted Files. By Mark P

Have you accidentally deleted a file and can not recover it? Or have you formatted your hard drive and forgot to back your important files?

Do not panic, there is a possibility of recovering the files you lost with recovery tools. You can recover deleted file such as document, music, pictures, and videos files. Recovery software programs are great tools that can be used on most devices from hard drives to even digital camera devices.

How does recovery software work?

Even thought you may have deleted a file from your computer's hard drive, it still remains on the hard drive until it is replaced by another file installed on your computer. So basically, when the file is deleted, it is still there on the hard drive, even though you cannot see it. The chance of it not being there depends on the users if they have installed many other files that could have replaced the old files.

What should you do to recover an accidentally deleted file?

When a file was accidentally deleted, the most important thing to do is prevent the deleted file from being overwritten by another file. Avoid installing programs and other files until you recover the deleted file. It is better to install the recovery software on a USB Device or floppy disk rather on the hard drive to prevent overwriting the files. As a good practice, always backup your important files.

Free Recovery Tools

Some free recovery software that can be use to recover deleted files are Pandora Recovery, FreeUndelete, and EASEUS Deleted File Recovery. These programs are great tool that can recover the files that you might think you can not recover.

5 RAID Data Recovery Prevention Tips. By James Allen

If you have spent the time to increase your computer's performance by setting up a hardware RAID array, you owe it to yourself to invest a little extra time and effort in maintaining the hard disks in your setup.

Following these tips will help limit the need for data disaster recovery in the future.

1. If you are copying information from an old harddrive onto those being used in your array, be sure to keep the old disk around for a while. That way, if you discover any faults or errors in your raid array, you will still have your original data to work with.

2. Make sure you choose the raid level that works best for your needs. If you are just in need of faster reads and basic redundancy, RAID Level 1 may be your ticket. This basic level Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks ensures against data loss by incorporating 2 drives - one mirroring the other. Although the cost per megabyte is higher, the increase in speed and protection against data loss are well worth it.

3. If you are setting up a multi-user enviroment, creating a 3 or 5 drive RAID-5 array may be your best choice for speed and data protection. Keep in mind though, if your requirements are write performance sensitive, there are better alternatives.

4. If you are trying to decide between a software based or hardware based RAID array, remember, hardware based arrays do not require software to boot, have the logic within them and as such are much more fault tolerant. Stick with a hardware array if you are concerned about disaster recovery planning!

5. Despite the increase in speed and performance using RAID arrays, files can still become disorganized and corrupted. Be sure to run your preferred software for scanning and checking your disks on a regular basis.

If you think taking the extra time to follow these tips and care for your RAID array sounds tedious, take a few moments to check out the cost of raid data disaster recovery. That alone should make you realize that your efforts are not in vain!

James B. Allen blogs regularly about disaster recovery planning.
